June 27, 2007Way Too Hot Wednesday RandomsWhat, you expected coherence?1. Is it fall yet? Please? 2. Since it isn't, I think I have decided to buy an air conditioner. I am somewhat bothered by the cost (both in money and energy) of this, but if the alternative is not sleeping all summer... well. That's not really a workable option. 3. I'm also buying a new computer. Very soon. Then I'll be able to show you pictures of knitting and Dewey again! 4. I do not seem to be appreciably less busy now that school is over. I have yet to figure out why this is. 5. I am gardening. It's exciting. (And yes, that's undoubtedly what's taking up some of the time.) I'll show you pictures of that soon too. 6. Seriously, I have had enough of the hot weather. Can we petition to make it stop? Posted by Kat at June 27, 2007 01:13 PMComments
I'm with you on the heat! With my asthma and allergies, I'm on the list of people who are advised not to go outdoors on days like these. :P It's funny that you comment on not being noticeably less busy now that you're done with school. I was just thinking to myself today - within the last couple of hours - "Gosh, I wonder how Kat's doing? We actually see less of her now she's done with school!" LOL If you have a chance, come by Panera some Thursday night. We're still going strong - sometimes 6 people or more - and we'd love to see you again! Posted by: Crafting Jen at June 27, 2007 03:14 PMLook at it this way. It's going to take far less energy for you to cool one room that all those people our there with Central Air that cool a whole house, even when they aren't in it. That's how I make myself feel better about window a/c anyway. Posted by: Jeanne at June 27, 2007 03:26 PMUm, our evil hot humid weather broke overnight. Looks like we'll have two days of delight before it gets evil again... I would be damned cranky if I didn't have air - and I would be fearing for the furbabies' health! I get a decent deal on a Toshiba laptop from CompUSA - S5058 or something like that. Mine (from a store closing) came with Vista on it - Vista sucked. A lot. As in it was SUCH a memory hog. I added XP Pro (dual boot) and use that instead - and life is very speedy and happy and portable. Posted by: Chris at June 27, 2007 03:59 PMI hate the heat too. I'll sign anything that bans it. Think it'll help? The other day a caller to NPR blamed Daylight Savings Time for Global Warming - that extra hour of sunlight a month early really warmed things up. Good Gawd. Posted by: Carrie K at June 27, 2007 05:00 PMThought I was never going to get to sleep last night - and it looks like more of the same tonight. We've been promised rain - but none so far! Can't wait to see photos of Dewey and of course your knitting!! Posted by: Sara at June 27, 2007 08:11 PMI'm with you! I rarely ever complain about the cold during the winter because I reserve the right to complain about the heat. I feel that--except for really extreme conditions--it's morally repugnant to complain about BOTH. And so I bundle up in winter and gripe during the summer. And yes, I do have an air conditioner! Posted by: --Deb at June 27, 2007 10:06 PMI'm all in favor of sleeping the night. I vote for the AC. I have an air conditioner, and am trying very hard not to hook it up. When I need it, though, in it goes! Sleep is important. If we really want to worry about energy, let's get buildings to quit making doors that open just cuz you're walking by. Irritating and wasteful. I'm wishing you some cool nights! Posted by: carrie at June 29, 2007 11:05 AMCome to Michigan, it's cold! I want heat! Posted by: Arleta at June 29, 2007 03:44 PMI'll be the 1st to sign that petition! I'm about melted here already! Posted by: Carol at June 29, 2007 04:26 PMPost a comment
