New Summer Knitty!

Knitting

The new Knitty is up! Frankly, I'm shocked by how much of it I like, because I've been somewhat lukewarm on Knitty recently and because I usually don't like summer knitting magazines anyway. On first look, I like Shetland Shorty, Inverness, Thira, Seascape, Helena, Muscari, Spring Forward, Ziggy, Couvercle, and BYOB. Which is most of it. And I haven't even looked at the articles yet.

Favorites, anyone?

I found most of the patterns to be a yawn, but that's just me. Too many little no-brainer items like chokers and garters, too many little sweaters that serve no purpose other than a visual layer over other clothes.

There were several interesting socks, but as usual, I'd need to re-write the patterns to work with my 10-inch circumference feet.

I did like Seascape and BYOB. But I have no personal use for a light lacy shawl, and we have more than enough reusable bags at this time. Ziggy is a nice look, but could be more easily achieved by using a rippled stitch pattern and merely alternating two rows of one colorway, two of another. (In fact, I may just do that.)

I also haven't looked at the articles yet. Maybe later.

So for me, more of a disappointment than anything. I've still got Marjory from the last issue in my queue, and I have the yarn and needles to knit it. I'll just have to wait for the summer surprises and the fall issue to see if I like them any better!
