April 18, 2007Random bits of newsWhat, you expected coherence?Oh, hey, it's even Wednesday! Lovely. 1. Graduation is in 31 days. My final presentation, which will be the last piece of actual work I have to do, is in 20 days. This is simultaneously very exciting and terrifying, given the amount of work I have left to do. 2. Last night I successfully wore a nightgown without having it or my legs attacked by Mr. Dewey as I was walking around. This is a milestone. Perhaps someday we'll move on to actual skirts. 3. The flooding you might be hearing about (and seeing elsewhere) is indeed in my area, but I haven't been too affected, at least so far. My roof is leaking, but only a tiny bit (and yes, the landlord has been called), and last I checked 3/4ths of the routes to my house were closed, but I'm hoping at least one will be reopened by tomorrow. 4. I'm joining the SCA. I'm not sure whether I've mentioned that. 5. I quit the part time bookstore job. I don't remember whether I mentioned that either. I am ridiculously pleased with the notion of two days off each week. 6. I am planning to attend both NH Sheep and Wool and the Yarn Harlot event at (near) Webs. Anyone else? The end is in sight! Yay. :) Nope, you hadn't mentioned SCA or quitting the bookstore. Good for you! Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2007 01:00 PMYep, NH Sheep and Wool is on the schedule, although it looks like I'll be there on Sunday. You? Posted by: The Feminist Mafia at April 18, 2007 01:24 PMI'm hoping to go to NH Sheep & Wool - I've got a friend, Claudia of Heal My Hands (http://healmyhands.typepad.com/heal_my_life/), who's going to be a vendor there. It'll be our first chance to meet in person! Used to be in the SCA. In fact, it was via an online forum for the SCA some 16 years ago that Gryphon and I first met, fell in love, and got married. We drifted away after that. Being a crafter, I warn you - you're probably going to start digging up every sort of period knitting pattern you can find, and you might be more drawn to spinning...It's a black hole, SCA crafting, it just keeps sucking you in! Posted by: Crafting Jen at April 18, 2007 01:43 PMI hope you'll post about your findings in the SCA! Very cool. Also, don't forget your graduation "virtual" party! Everyone but us is getting rain, drats. I WISH I were going to see the Harlot, another thing we don't get much of :( Posted by: Carol at April 18, 2007 02:22 PMYeah on the end in sight! and Yeah you get to see the yarn harlot, so wish I could see her, be sure to take lots of pics and post about it for us deprived souls. Posted by: olga at April 18, 2007 02:51 PMWebs for sure, NH Sheep and Wool is a maybe. Yippee for 31 days to go! Posted by: Cece at April 18, 2007 04:02 PMI'm hoping to go to both events as well!
