Holidays are supposed to be fun, right? I cannot believe this is happening. I have to watch SOMETHING while I knit. I love lists! I want to know! June 21, 2006First Randoms of SummerWhat, you expected coherence?1. Today is the solstice. I am totally ready for winter, or at least autumn. Is this bad? I'm having trouble sleeping in my 90-degree apartment... 2. Knitting? What's that? See above re: 90-degree apartment. You want me to touch wool? I have been working on Clapotis a bit, since it's silk. But still a bit... sticky. Bleagh. 3. The Summer Reading Program is going swimmingly, and it's not too late to sign up, if you're interested! I'm reading three really good books at the moment, and hoping to finish something soon so I can stay on my own Top 10 list. That'd be nice. 4. Wait, it is Wednesday, right? Yeah. Okay. Momentary disorientation there. 5. Summer seems to be all about the reality TV, at least for me. Anyone watching How to Get the Guy? It seems like some of their tips might actually be useful, if I could get myself to follow them. 6. School started this week. Summer classes are twice a week, so I'm trekking to Boston every Monday and Wednesday until July 31. (My birthday.) It's a hassle. But I'm also remembering that I really like school. So that's good. I wish more of my classes were like this one. Which, you know, means I should probably go get that English degree. 7. We just had a departmental meeting that actually made me somewhat enthusiastic about my job. Will wonders never cease? Of course, we are being forced to wear those stupid t-shirts (see Monday's post) tomorrow, so I'm sure my enthusiasm will disperse quickly. Posted by Kat at June 21, 2006 12:51 PMComments
Did they serve refreshments at the meeting? If so, maybe they've started drugging them to increase morale! Posted by: Chris at June 21, 2006 04:23 PMOooh, company T-shirts! Nothing says solidarity & corporate whoredom w/quite as much fanfare. Why do companies do this crap? We used to get all those motivational seminars and "Mission Statements". Big. Fat. Waste. Of Time. In committees, to add insult to injury. I'm bored with summer too. It's too hot and it's too freaking light out. Posted by: Carrie K at June 21, 2006 04:31 PMHaven't watched "Get the Guy" but I'm trialing eharmony...interesting & slightly stressful...I've determined that I truly don't like thinking about strangers before my morning coffee. Posted by: Erica at June 22, 2006 12:30 PM1. I'm loving HOW TO GET THE GUY. Did you see on their site they're posting the Dating Manual, the tips they give the girls each week? Just thought I'd share. 2. We wear matching logo'd shirts on Fridays, but in various colours. I really like them because they're polos and more dressy-down than the rest of what I wear all week. But I hate it when we come to work totally matching, like on Tuesday. 8 out of 16 staff memebers were wearing some shade of blue shirt. 3 of which were the exact same shade (myself included). 3. For some reason I thought the Solstice was always on the 22nd, not the 21st, so all day yesterday I said it was the 22nd. Post a comment
