June 13, 2006Cautious 10th Doctor excitementI have to watch SOMETHING while I knit.It looks like the next series of Doctor Who, with David Tennant, will be showing in the States in the fall. Yay! They mention a spin-off called Torchwood too... interesting. For the record, I rather adore the Ninth Doctor and am very wary about this new guy. And really, take off the jacket. It's not yours. But I'l try to give him a chance... UPDATE: More about Captain Jack's new show, Torchwood, here. And, as one of my exceedingly clever friends pointed out, Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who. I just watched the 9th doctor's last episode last night. I *so* wanted to cry. Christopher, we hardly knew ya. Thanks for setting the bar so high. And for getting kissed by Captain Jack full on the lips. And for resurrecting the doctor at what I consider to be PERFECT pitch. He couldn't have a better send-off into the future (so to speak). Well, except if you Christopher had stuck around. David Tennant has a lot to live up to. I don't want to have to wait to find out what happens next. In Doctor Who withdrawal, C. Posted by: mamacate at June 13, 2006 11:25 AMThanks to the kind offices of some UK friends, I've seen Tennant, and I'm (very) pleased with him. CE certainly left an impression, though. Posted by: beadslut at June 13, 2006 11:33 AMDavid Tennant is excellent as the next Dr Who - you have a treat in store. Also he is a hottie which is a bonus :) The anagram thing is very clever - not something I realised before. Posted by: mrspao at June 13, 2006 01:59 PMI didn't realize it was an anagram either. I wonder if that was on purpose? I love Christopher Eccleston - didn't realize he was in the movie Elizabeth, but I do hear David Tennant is equally good. I'll believe it when I've seen it. Posted by: Carrie K at June 13, 2006 04:29 PMAnagram. Never woulda thought. Pleez oh pleez can we have Torchwood in the US? It would do my Doctor Who withdrawal some good. Now, how, again, do I rig my dish up to get BBC? Hmm? Posted by: mamacate at June 13, 2006 04:47 PMI'm in the UK watching David Tennant as the tenth doctor currently. He's very very good, and I think a lot of this comes from his love for Doctor Who as a concept. It is, apparently, the one role he always dreamed of playing. He also (though I haven't seen previous series so I'm not sure about the authenticity of this) made a big fuss to get his title in the closing credits changed from Doctor Who to Tenth Doctor, as the Doctor is not called Doctor Who. (hope that makes some kind of sense). Davd Tennant is also doing wonders for spectacle wearers everywhere! Posted by: Jenni at June 13, 2006 05:19 PM |
