Comments: Farmer's Market - 7/17/08

Speaking of eating locally, I would say that probably 50% of the vegetable matter that goes on our plates comes from our side yard right now. Does your new place have room for a garden for next year, even a little 4'x8' bed where you could do some square foot gardening? I think you would love gardening.

My new vegetable LUUURVE is plain yellow crookneck squash, steamed just right and very lightly salted. I swear it tastes like you buttered it. My three hills of it are *just* starting to kick it into high gear, and I'm wishing I'd planted more (and earlier!).

Also? My green beans are doing shamefully poorly. Good thing, I guess, because my favorite way to eat THEM involves bacon, pound for pound. Ahem. But still, your little heap of them is making me envious.

I meant to e-mail you yesterday...and got side tracked.

Love that you are eating locally. I do, too, especially in the summer and early fall when the farmers' markets are open.

Don't forget - you can get flours and some grains from King Arthur Flour which is right up the road from me in VT. A lot of stores carry their flours. And, you can use those to bake your own breads!!! Although there is nothing like fresh baked bread from a bakery!!! OMG!!!

I think you should go into commercial photography!
